LAS BOLAS DE FUEGO

ISSUE 6

It seemed only apt to name Issue 5, Las Bolas de Fuego (Fireball Festival on August 31st).

This festival, in the Western village of Nejapa, commemorates a landmark volcanic eruption in 1658 depicting a battle between the local patron saint San Jeronimo and the Devil with festival goers hurling fire balls soaked in kerosene to cheering crowds.

This vibrant Republic of El Salvador, known as the Land of Volcanoes, is the smallest but most densely populated country in Central America, known until recently for its civil wars and gang violence. And now with a new progressive populist government, with a backdrop of lush tropical surf haven, it has become the first Bitcoin country. A lot has happened to this little country over April 22 when we visited and the following weeks thereafter. I am very curious to know what the rest of the year holds for El Salvador.
